Goodbye Globaloria !

I'll start off by saying how much I'm going to miss this class. Out of my four years of being here at Riverside this was the funnest class. My journey through Globaloria was pretty a bumpy road. There was times when I would catch on to things very easy but at other times was very difficult. Even though I had alot of difficulty I always had my classmates and Chez there to help me understand. I appreciate the experience of learning all these new skills and we'll never forget them. Also I want to say thank you Destynee for being the salt to my peppahhh, and you was a great partner (: Farewell Globaloria.... !

Senior Presentations (:

I am very proud of everyone in our class. I don't think anyone who presented deserves nothing less than an A. Everyone worked extremely hard these past couple weeks on their video game. Even though some might not work and some still not be finished, everyone gave 110%. As for Salt and Peppahhh I think we did very good even though we wasn't completely ready, but I think its time for these shakers to retire.

To me West Virginia is a wonderful state. It may not have as many attractions as other states, but it is a great place to live. I've lived here my whole life and I wouldn't change it for nothing. I grew up on these mountains, I couldn't imagine living somewhere else. I have lived in the same community for 16 years and where I come from everyone knows eachother. Everyone is friendly and everyone helps everyone.
Others point of view on us is that we are uneducated and that we are all just a bunch of hillbillies. But that is coming from people who have never visited west virginia. Some people might not be as educated as others but I bet you they still have mountaineer spirit in them ((:
Just recently I have realized how wonderful west virginia really is. It's sad that I had to realize it through such a horrible tragedy. Throughout this recent tragedy my eyes really opened on how caring strangers can be towards eachother. People from all over the area was coming together to pray and have faith for our miners. Im glad I was lucky enough to be raised in such an amazing place<3

animation ((:

Today in class we was told to watch a tutorial about animation. The video showed us how to do everything step by step. After watching the video I tryed it out on flash. I did it the first time ((: Making an object move was more easy than I thought. Destynee and I are going to try to add some animation to are video game. Which is coming along amazinglyyyy :D

My Demo Button :D

When Chez first told us we was going to begin making buttons I didn't think I was going to be able to make one. I'm not that good at flash, so I watched the two videos that was under the tutorials. After watching the first video atleast ten times I was able to make my button (:

It wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. Since it was my first button I've made I didn't do much to it except make it change colors. It goes from hot pink to light pink. I'm very excited to start making all the buttons for my games.

Paper Prototyping (:

Destyne and I had alot of fun doing are paper prototyping. It took us a couple days to get everything put together, but it turned out pretty good. We cut out little stick people to represent each character and made each level two pages long. We also cut out the objects that will be points and the objects that will be trying to attack you. Putting all the pieces together and recorded us explaining the game was alot of fun too. (:

Salt &+ Pepper Shaking Up the Flashhhh ! (:

Destyne and I have such a good video game planned. While we were planning our game we realized how much detail is going to be put in each level. I really look forward to putting our game together, but I'm not happy about inserting all the codes. That's probably going to take a couple years. Exspecially with Destyne and me we didn't do so well on our mini game, so are video game is going to take a while (:

The Canterbury Tales

Chaucer chose the specific sterotypes that he did because it's sterotypes that have always been around. Each character contributed something helpful to their society. Some was religious and some would hunt for food. The author also made a lawyer and a doctor. This story is so creative and so detailed on everything.In the story the author gives us a very good picture and description of all of his characters. The author tells us details on what the character is wearing and what they do to contribute to the others. My favorite character is Friar because he's like cupid. I wish we could have someone like that in our world. That would be awesome. (: When we make our game the characters must be related to the game theme. If your theme is action and you have babies as characters that wouldn't look so good, and alot of people probably wouldn't play it. Any type of characterization is important in books, movies, and yes even in games. The characters in games should be creative and have something special or different about them. Alot of video games refelect a book or movie so it all goes together.

Imagine Your Game

In class we have been working on our paper protyping. Destyne and Me are partners and have got alot of good ideas for our video game. We're going to reflect are game off of Super Mario. The goal is to complete four levels to get your diploma. Also throughout the game you will gather points to get a promise scholarship. On level one you will choose between four different types of characters. After choosing your character you will begin at a school. You will be running through gathering books, but you must avoid the bad grades ! They are able to take one of your five lives. After all five lives are taken you will have to restart at level one, so you must be careful ! On level two you will be on a football field and you will have to gather all the footballs for points, but you must dodge the football players that are trying to stop you. On level three you are at a party and you will have to collect all your friends without getting stopped by the drugs or alcohol ! After completing these three levels you will have one more to go. On level four you are on the stage soon to get your diploma. You must follow the diploma to the finish line, but while doing that the group of dropouts will try to stop you so you must dodge them ! We are very excited to create our game ! (:

Choosing A Topic

Education is one of the serious topics in West Virginia. The drop out rates have increased in such a short amount of time. This has affected my community. A large amount of kids in high school feel like they don't need their diploma, but without a diploma you won't go anywhere in life. I feel like the state should change the drop out age to 18 that away kids can't drop out till there senior year. That would be stupid to do so because you'll only have a few months till you can get your diploma. Most kids are influenced in school by their enviroment and family. If the enviroment is negative they're going to be the same way because that's how they've grown to be. Also if the family don't care the kids won't either. I think education is something everyone should address their attention too. If people would do so, I feel like the government would come up with more and better solutions on how to solve this.

Mini Game Tutorial

I've been very excited to start on my Mini Game Assignment because it's getting us one step closer in making our own video game. When we first started out I was very confused, but after reading carefully through the directions I started putting my codes together and getting my rabbit and carrot to show up and move. This assignment took me a couple days to finish because i kept putting codes in the wrong place. I'm very proud of myself that I finished the game and I'm very excited to start my own video game (:

Beowulf Part Two

The ultimate purpose of an epic hero is to leave something of lasting value. Beowulf left something that is a lasting value, which was his courage. Beowulf had the courage to stand up for the King and his followers after many had died from trying. Beowulf stood up to any enemy that crossed his path. So when being burried by the towns people Beowulf was with the dragon's treasure. Beowulf was known for being a hero after saving the saving everyone.

My Fictional Hero

My fictional hero is the strongest most fastest man on the planet. He can fly anywhere in the world in jus a few seconds to help anyone. He goes by the name of "Harold the Helper." Harold's duties are to help people in serious need after a disaster. In the past Harold has helped people down in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina had struck. Within a couple months he will have the town in tip top shape again. Right now Harold is in Hatis helping supply food and water for the survivors. Soon he will begin working on rebuilding there community. Everyone loves Harold for his heroic help. If you happen to see Harold you should tell him thank you for all he's done. He's pretty amazing (:

Audience

The story teller's assumptions in Beowolf were exciting and kept the audience on their toes. Not knowing what's going to happen next is always a good story. (: The story teller's beliefs about the intended audience affected the content of the story by making it kind of hard to comprehend. It's hard for me to understand what the story teller is trying to say. Thanks to Chez explaining alot of it i sometimes get it (:
I think my audience in my video game will be people like me, in their teens. My game is gonna consist of making your own decisions. Alot of people like real life games like that, like the sims (: The characters you can choose from in my game are going to be like real life people. You could be the football player or maybe the class clown. I think those are fun characters to be (:

Beo Wolf Part 1

In the first part of Beowolf the king is having a party in Meet Hall where there are guest, food, dancing, and singing. The monster, Grendel, who lives below him is getting disturbed by their music, and very aggravated. Grendal decides to go up to Meet Hall and destroy all that he sees. After the slaying is done the king orders one of his followers to get Beowolf. When they finally bring Beowolf to the king a feast is held for him in his honor of being there. One of the king's followers challenges Beowolf and tells him that he doesn't think he can defeat Grendal. Beowolf explains to the follower how he's the best and how no one will defeat him. As night comes Beowolf prepares for the fight. They know Grendal will show again.

I think Beowolf makes the requirements of a hero because he's strong, brave, and has the courage to fight. I don't think he would make a good educational game hero though. He's a killer/fighter and you can't learn from that.

Never agree to get together with someone you "met" online without first checking with your parents. If your parents agree to the meeting, be sure that it is in a public place and bring your mom or dad along.
Never send a person your picture or anything else without first checking with your parents.
Do not respond to any messages that are mean or in any way makes you feel uncomfortable. Talk with your parents so that you can set up rules for going online. You can decide upon the time of the day that you can be online, the length of time you can be online and appropriate areas for you to visit. Do not access other areas or break these rules without their permission.
